Walking through the streets of Mexico City awakens the appetite. The aroma of corn in the form of tortilla or tlacoyo, the hiss of suadero or the vapors of epazote-scented esquites invite you to taste, discover and confirm that in the metropolis that has everything, you can eat very well at street level.
Perhaps it is because we are always in a hurry, because hunger and cravings are intrinsic to our culture, or because the distances are enormous, that we, Chilangos, are used to eating sitting down (when there is time), standing up (when we have to hurry) or walking (when the hurry prevails), taking advantage of any tin stand, umbrella with a plastic table in front, or doorway with the doors open to try a menu that includes all kinds of dishes that change throughout the 24 hours of the day.
This guide, if I may say so, is just a “little taste” of the magnificent richness and tastiness that our street food offers, the craving to go out to the street to discover a new stall that satisfies our hunger and curiosity, and a tribute to those who get up early to appease our appetite from the early hours of the morning, or stay up late to satisfy the desire for tacos of the night owls.
Come on in and, ¡provechito!
