Every day, thousands of pilgrims arrive at the Basilica of Santa Maria de Guadalupe full of prayers and gratitude. At the feet of “Mexico’s Patroness” they surrender, turn their gaze towards the tilma where the Virgin is and murmur their prayers. Devotion is moving and the “Morenita del Tepeyac” is loved all over the world, which is why her sanctuary is the second most visited in the world. To her festivity, on December 12, millions come with all kinds of gifts, from flowers and candles to professional degrees, hair or altarpieces accompanied by the singing of mariachis. “La Villa” is also a devotional museum, here you will find the old Basilica – built at the end of the XVII century –, the Pocito and Juramentos chapels, the Marian Museum, the Mestizaje Park and the Tepeyac Garden, among others. Visiting it does not leave you indifferent, it even makes you think that gratitude and faith are precious gifts, beyond any creed.
